Several Weather-Related Power Outages Reported In Region

RALEIGH, N.C. — Nearly 5,000 Triangle-area power customers were in the dark at one point Tuesday morning because of power outages caused by weather.

In Raleigh, about 2,000 were without power in the Rock Quarry area. Progress Energy officials reported a tree branch fell over a power line. Power was restored in those areas around 6:30 a.m.

In the Durham/Chapel Hill area, Duke Power reported about 2,400 customers were without power. Duke Power said the outage was weather-related. About 1,000 outages were in Chapel Hill and 1,400 were in Durham. Power was restored in both cities by 10:15 a.m.

There were also 155 outages in Princeton, 82 in Zebulon and 122 in Sanford.
