NASH COUNTY, N.C. — Editor's Note: Charges against Hattley Deans were dropped Nov. 26, 2007 after the teen admitting making up the allegations.
A school employee charged with child sex crimes is a crime victim himself.
Someone apparently broke into Hattley Deans' home while he was in jail.
Deans, who is out on bond, is charged with taking indecent liberties with a child and statutory rape. He worked as a teacher's assistant at Southern Nash Middle School.
Investigators believe Deans assaulted a 14-year-old at his home, where he often tutored students. They believe there may be more victims.
