CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities have uncovered what they say is a mobile methamphetamine lab in Cumberland County.

Deputies received a call overnight about a suspicious white pickup truck parked along a dirt path off Burnett Road in the Godwin community. When they arrived, they saw smoke coming from the vehicle.

They later discovered a working, portable meth lab in the back of the pickup truck.

Authorities say the owner of the pickup truck, Jeremy Wayne Caudle, 33, of Autryville, was sitting inside the truck when deputies arrived at the scene. He has been taken to the Cumberland County Jail and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.

Other charges may be pending in the case. Caudle's first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
