DUNN, N.C. — The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a man who was found lying in a road in Harnett County.
At 3:50 a.m. Monday, a 1996 red Mercury driven by Kerry Hollans struck a pedestrian that was lying in the northbound lane of Pope Road near Dunn, authorities said.
Upon arrival of the Highway Patrol, a man was found lying in the middle of the road with no identification. It is believed the man was dead before the driver of the Mercury hit him, authorities said.
