Second Suspect Charged In Stabbing Death Of Raleigh Woman

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police charged a second suspect Saturday in the fatal stabbing of a Raleigh woman early Tuesday morning.

Raleigh police found 22-year-old Lauren Michele Redman outside her apartment building at 3010 North Walnut Creek Parkway at about 2:20 a.m. Tuesday. She died at the scene.

On Saturday, detectives with the Raleigh Police Department served a warrant that charges Joseph Daniel Sanderlin, 24, with Redman's murder.

Police said Sanderlin has been in custody at the Wake County Jail since Nov. 9, when he was arrested on a probation violation.

Byron Lamar Waring, 19, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of murder in connection with Redman's death.

Police said the two suspects were probably casual acquaintances of Redman.

Redman was an English major at North Carolina State University, but she had not taken any classes there for more than a year. She was a graduate of East Wake High School, where she was a standout tennis player.

The case is still under investigation, police said.
