Voting booths are set up in the FEMA parks in Tarboro and Rocky Mount. Any displaced family -- even those not living in the FEMA parks -- can vote here.
"We don't know how long it's going to be before the difficulty for displaced voters leaves us. So it will be interesting to see if future elections, such as November's, will need similar measures," says Gayle Hudson, Edgecombe County Board of Elections director.
To assure an accurate count, each voter will be asked to sign an affidavit swearing that they are out of their home and that they will vote only once.
Polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
