Fayetteville City Council Raises Fee For Push-Cart Vendors

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville's only street vendor is going to have to sell a lot of hot dogs to keep her business rolling.

The City Council voted to raise the pushcart fee from $25 to $175 a year.

Those who voted for the hike say they're afraid vendors will steal business from restaurants. Those who voted against the measure say they want to encourage activity downtown.

For now, the fee increase only affects Shanta Brown who sells hot dogs along Hay Street.
