Larceny Charges Filed Against Granville Students In Mercury Theft

Posted Updated

GRANVILLE COUNTY, N.C. — Charges were officially filed Tuesday against two high school students who allegedly stole mercury from a classroom.

Investigators say both South Granville High School students admitted taking the mercury from a science classroom.

They will face juvenile larceny charges.

The theft forced the school to shut down for several days last week after high levels of the toxic material were found in several classrooms.
