Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — Cary police Monday released the name of a man found dead outside a convenience store last week.

Police identified the victim as Miguel Ramirez Cifuentes, 50, of Cary.

A convenience store manager found Cifuentes in the woods near an Exxon station at 1205 NE Maynard Road on Thursday. A preliminary autopsy showed Cifuentes died from a blow to the head.

Authorities talked to a man who they considered a "person of interest" in the case, but said he was not considered to be a suspect.

"We are continuing to work around the clock to identify suspects in this tragic incident," said Capt. Dave Wulff.

No charges have been filed in the case.
