Three Charged In Fatal Shooting At Durham Apartment Complex

DURHAM, N.C. — Three men were arrested and charged with murder Saturday after police said they shot one man and severely beat another during a fight at a Durham apartment complex.

At about 3:25 a.m. Saturday, Durham police responded to a disturbance at Crossroads Apartments at

219 S. Alston Ave


According to reports, several cars carrying a group of men, including the three suspects, entered the Crossroads Apartments parking lot, where a fight involving baseball bats ensued, and during the scuffle, gunshots were fired.

The gunshot victim, Martin Martinez Vega, 24, was transported to Duke University Medical Center where he later died. A second man, with identification showing his name as Ivan Guzman Acosta, 31, suffered injuries from the baseball bat attack and was transported to a local hospital where he remained unconscious.

Luis Ramirez Ruiz, 21, Luis Miguel Hernandez Barraza, 23, and Roque Fonseca Hernandez, 24, were arrested.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
