ECU Student Raped After Leaving Greenville Bar

GREENVILLE, N.C. — A female ECU student was grabbed by several men and raped after leaving a bar early Friday morning, Greenville police said.

The 19-year-old ECU student reported that she was grabbed by several men somewhere on Green Street after leaving a downtown bar around 3:30 a.m. The victim was raped by one of the suspects while the others held her on the ground, police said.

The victim said that she had been out with several friends and was left to walk home alone. At the time the report was taken by police, the victim was unsure of the direction she took once leaving the bar, or the exact location of the assault.

Police said the victim believes that the incident happened somewhere on Green Street. She was not able to provide the exact number of suspects or give detailed information on their descriptions, police said.

She reported the assault to officers while she was at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
