RALEIGH, N.C. — A convenience store clerk is in a coma and fighting for his life after he was found lying unconscious in the parking lot outside the store where he worked.
Shortly before midnight Friday, Raleigh police responded found 30-year-old Francis Gitau Chege, lying unconscious outside the Han-Dee Hugo convenience store at
800 S. New Hope Road
Surveillence video shows Chege apparently arguing with a group of four -- two men and two women. His boss, store manager Emmanuel Onuoha said he believes the argument started when Chege would not sell alcohol to one of the women because she was a minor.
In the video, the group and Chege go outside, then go back inside and then go outside again. Then, a car can be seen driving away. Chege never goes back inside the store.
Officers say they are unsure of happened that led to Chege's head injury.
Police say the girl and her friends got away in a gray Acura sedan.
"Someone should recognize these people and know who they are from these pictures and this surveillance tape," said Maj. Dennis Lane, of the Raleigh Police Department.
