PINEHURST, N.C. — Pinehurst hopes to annex two different communities.
Jackson Hamlet is older, smaller than Pinehurst. Plus, its residents have a much lower average income than Pinehurst.
Many of its residents want to be part of Pinehurst because they would like sewer lines and municipal services.
Meanwhile, Pinewild is a gated, golf-course community. Many residents are fighting annexation, claiming Pinehurst wants to cash in on their property taxes.
