RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina Department of Correction said that a man accused of making a bomb threat escaped from prison Monday afternoon.
Officials say 48-year-old
Herbert Spruill
could be headed to Williamston, where his girlfriend and sister live.
Spruill, who prison officials say has a history of attempted escapes, is serving more than three years in prison for the bomb threat. A prison official said Tuesday that Spruill escaped while on an outside work assignment.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact their local law enforcement agency.
