WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — A 28-year-old Wayne County man was arrested Sunday on charges of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
Malcolm Lee Southerland, of 1045 Emmaus Church Road, Dudley, was charged with first degree statutory sexual offense, Wayne County sheriff's officials said.
The incident happened, police said, when a 15-year-old girl was visiting a friend in Southerland's home. No weapons were used during the assault, police said.
Southerland is being held in the Wayne County Jail on a $100,000 secured bond.
