Posted Updated

SELMA, N.C. — A confessed teen killer began serving his sentence Monday.

Deondre Russell admitted shooting Tyjuan Gray last August in Johnston County.

Russell insists he snapped after months of being taunted by Gray.

The judge sentenced Russell to at least 12 years in prison.

Under state law, Russell could not receive the death penalty because he was 15 years old at the time of the shooting.
