JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities have released more details in a two-car accident in Johnston County.
Investigators said the accident happened around 6 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of
Castleberry Road and Highway 42
in Clayton.
Russell Wayne Overly was traveling eastbound on Highway 42 in his Dodge pick-up truck when the vehicle in front of him started to slow down to turn left onto Castleberry Road.
Authorities said Overly swerved left to avoid having to stop and hit a white Chevrolet Avalanche head-on. The driver of the Chevrolet, Mark Henry Koukal, 40, of Clayton, died in the accident.
Overly has been charged with driving left of the center and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
