JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — After a high-speed chase on Interstate 95 Monday afternoon, Johnston County authorities have arrested a suspect in the Sunday evening shooting death of a man.

Authorities said Brandon F. Johnson, 23, was found shot to death Sunday lying in the road near the intersection of Will Road and Buck Road in the

Middlesex

community.

Officers spotted Marcus Godwin, of Kenly, driving the victim's 1998 silver Ford Expedition and began chasing him along I-95. Authorities used stop sticks to blow out three of the SUV's tires.

Even after the suspect stopped running, he bragged to authorities about how far he had gotten in the chase and, while cursing, even confessed to shooting someone.

Godwin and a passenger in the vehicle were taken to the Johnston County Jail, where Godwin will be charged with first-degree murder.
