BENSON, N.C. — An assistant principal has been charged in connection with a fight over clothes, according to public records.

Officers say Billy Ray Todd, 51, of Clinton, who works at Union Elementary School in Benson, was charged with interfering with emergency communications after he took a phone away from a man who tried to call 911 during a fight over a pair of pants that involved Todd's son and another man.

According to reports, Matthew Wood, of Lillington, reportedly attempted to call 911 on his cell phone when Todd took away his phone and hung it up.
