Suspect Wanted In Cumberland Shooting In Custody

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a 12-year old girl.

Henry Sims, III, 23, was taken into custody Tuesday at Howard Johnson's on Eastern Boulevard in Fayetteville.

Sims is charged with firing a shotgun blast into a home on June 3 in retaliation to a botched drug deal. Sims later learned that he had targeted the wrong residence. One of three children inside the home was injured.

Sims is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharge of a firearm into an occupied property, felony conspiracy and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Sims is in the Cumberland County Jail under a $90,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
