Bargain Hunting Can Be Profitable For State

RALEIGH, N.C. — If you are looking for a good bargain, the state can reap some of the reward.
The
State Surplus Property Agency
in Raleigh takes in old items from government agencies and resells them to the public. Last year, sales topped more than $23 million.
Much of the money is returned to individual agencies or goes to the state's General Fund.
Up to 600 shoppers a day weave through the warehouse. Some items are confiscated from drug dealers.
