Off-Duty Raleigh Police Officer Charged With Assault

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — A Raleigh police officer has been charged with assault on his son, a spokesman with the Cary Police Department said Tuesday.

Raleigh Police Sgt. Pat Rocker was charged with simple assault Monday at his home in Cary. The charge stems from a domestic situation with his 17-year-old son at the house. The son was not transported for medical attention.

A spokesman for the Raleigh Police Department said the department was aware of the charge, but that Rocker was on personal leave when the incident happened. He said that officials would meet with Rocker upon his return from leave.
