Sanford Police Arrest Suspect In Sunday Night Shooting

SANFORD, N.C. — Sanford police arrested a suspect Monday in connection with a shooting that occurred Sunday night.

At about 9 p.m., police were called to Crestview Street in response to a shooting. When officers arrived, EMS workers had already pronounced Jackie Burch, 45, dead in the road.

Authorities say Black had been shot twice.

Donald McLaughlin Jr., 22, of Sanford, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder without bond.

Officials did not say what may have prompted the shooting and are still investigating.
