Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham School Board reorganized its leadership during its meeting Thursday night.

Gail Heath was elected board chairwoman. Two other members -- Regina George-Bowden and Minnie Forte -- were nominated for vice chair and turned it down before board member Steve Martin finally accepted the post.

The board also passed a temporary public comment section for the beginning of meetings.

The public will be given 30 minutes on any topic.
