Warrants Issued In Dance Studio Fraud Case

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Three warrants for obtaining property by false pretense have been issued for 32-year-old Crystal Dawn Cockrell, of Charlotte.

The warrants stem from a dance audition held at the former Bounds Dance Studio in Ram's Plaza in Chapel Hill.

On June 15, Cockrell, representing The Alexander Agency of Charlotte, held a dance audition for a movie that was to be filmed in Raleigh. Approximately 250 children auditioned and 150 were chosen.

Those chosen to be in the film were required to pay $55 to The Alexander Agency for a Screen Actors Guild worker's permit. Officials later found that a film was not being made and that there is no such thing as a Screen Actors Guild workers permit.

Authorities are asking anyone who has been a victim of the scam to contact them at
