All About West Nile
The 26-year-old American quarterhorse was in Duplin County. It was euthanized after contracting the virus.
The horse had not been vaccinated against the disease.
Last year, three horses were diagnosed with West Nile virus, which is spread by infected mosquitoes and can affect both equines and humans.
