CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A pamphlet aimed at teens and drinking could get a Chapel Hill couple off the hook in court.

Officers were called to the home of Cammie and Brian Kinahan in April after neighbors complained about a loud party.

Police said 29 teens were drinking beer while the adults were upstairs. One child was rushed to the emergency room. The couple told police they did not buy the beer and did not know the kids were drinking.

The Kinahans wrote a booklet on how to have safe teen parties. As a result, a judge deferred prosecution. The couple will also have to pay a fine and do community service.
