DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham Police Department arrested nine people Friday during a citywide "buy-bust" operation targeting street corner drug dealers.
Officers confiscated marijuana, powder cocaine, crack cocaine and cash.
The following people were arrested by police:
Marvin Louis Johnson, 37, of Liberty Street was arrested in the 700 block of Queen Street and charged with conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia Kelvin Maurice Evans, 20, of Oakwood Avenue was arrested in the 700 block of Queen Street and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy Richard Earl Williams, 18, of North Roxboro Street was arrested in the 1100 block of South Hoover Road and charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia Victor Hernandez, 35, of Ivy Street was arrested in the 1300 block of Ivy Street and charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver, sale and delivery of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia Jose Jimaldo-Hernandez, 25, of Juniper Street was arrested in the 1300 block of Ivy Street and charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia Derielle Edward Jackson, 27, of Green Street was arrested in the 1600 block of Sedgefield Street and charged with conspiracy and resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer Richard Lee Toomer, 33, of South Elm Street was arrested in the 1600 block of Sedgefield Street and charged with sale and delivery of crack cocaine Asnaldo Merrero Aldama, 19, of Sherwood Drive was arrested at Sherwood Drive and Morreene Road and charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia Vernon Leon Carver, 39, of Liberty Street was arrested at Scout Drive and Piedmont Street and charged with sale and delivery of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation violationThe nine people were arrested on a total of 20 charges. The operation, which is part of an ongoing initiative, focused on areas where residents had complained about drug sales.
