Raleigh Police Warn About Pickpocket Team

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A team of pickpockets may be targeting places in Raleigh.

Raleigh police say three men had their wallets stolen while helping someone look for a contact lens. While the victims' attention was distracted to the floor, someone else behind them was stealing their wallets.

The thieves got away with cash and credit cards.

Two of the incidents occurred in early June and one in early July. One happened in a hospital elevator and the two others took place in a cafeteria lobby.

Authorities have a vague description of the suspects. In two instances, the suspect searching for the "lost contact" was a female. In the other case, the suspect was a male.

You are asked to call police if you have any information about the case.
