CROSS CREEK, N.C. — A Cumberland County family is homeless after a late-night fire destroyed their home.
Lightning struck a pine tree next to the house, catching a limb on fire.
The limb fell on the house and woke the man up. He got his two sons, ages 9 and 10, out of the house safely.
The house was for sale because the family received military orders to move to Arizona.
The Red Cross found a place for the family to stay.
