RALEIGH, N.C. — The city of Raleigh reached a deal to hold onto furniture inside the city's oldest home.

Raleigh owns the Mordecai House, but the furnishings are owned by the nonprofit group, Capital Area Preservation.

Capital Area Preservation agreed to lend the furniture to the city. In return, Raleigh will pay insurance and maintenance costs.

The preservation group had threatened to remove the furniture if no agreement was reached.
