Fort Bragg Soldier Dies From Injuries Sustained In Afghanistan

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — The Department of Defense announced Friday night that a Fort Bragg soldier died on June 16 at the Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Officials said Staff Sgt. Christopher Piper, 43, died from injuries he sustained when an explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Orgun-E, Afghanistan, on June 3.

Piper was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group.
