DURHAM, N.C. — A former receptionist at a Durham retirement community will avoid jail time for arson.

A string of small fires at Croasdaile Village in 2003 caught the attention of investigators.

Virginia Williams was later charged with arson.

As part of a plea deal with prosecutors, Williams will be placed on three years' probation and must complete 50 hours of community service.
