Group Prepared To Take Fight Over Fayetteville Annexation To Supreme Court

Posted Updated

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Fayetteville's annexation fight could go to the country's highest court.

A group announced that it would appeal a recent court decision that allows Fayetteville to move forward with its annexation of the western portion of Cumberland County.

About 42,000 Cumberland County residents would be affected by the annexation, which has been delayed for about a year.

Opposition leaders have drafted an appeal to the N.C. Supreme Court.

They said they would take the fight to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.
