N.C. State To Spend Nearly $1 Million Cleaning Up After Coliseum Fire

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina State University estimates damages to the historic Reynolds Coliseum will cost nearly $900,000 to repair.

Two weeks ago an electrical fire destroyed two classrooms and caused extensive smoke damage to the rest of Reynolds Coliseum.

The university said Tuesday that a lot of that cleanup work has already started to get rid of the smoky smell.

University officials said they hope to have most everything clean in areas not directly affected by the fire before classes start in the fall.

The destroyed classrooms will have to be completely rebuilt.
