DURHAM, N.C. — A teenager accused of shooting two people outside a Durham mall has been found guilty of first-degree murder.

Lamar Bass, who was 17 at the time, was charged with killing Lazarren Tyqwan Mclean, 16, on Dec. 26, 2005. Police said an argument between the two on a city bus escalated in the parking lot of Northgate Mall.

Family members said they believe McLean was defending his younger sister after teens made harassing comments toward her.

Bass was arrested last February after a month-long manhunt. He will be sentenced to life in prison.

Another teen, Quinzell Nahdee Williamson, 19, was shot but survived. The jury did not find Bass guilty of shooting and injuring Williamson.
