— Authorities made a major drug bust Tuesday during a traffic stop in Robeson County.

State troopers stopped a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe on N.C. 41 near RP 1002 for traffic violations in Robeson County. A police dog indicated the possibility of drugs being transported in the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle revealed a hidden compartment. The vehicle was transported to the Lumberton Highway Patrol office. State troopers found 27 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated value of $2.7 million and $60,000 in U.S. currency.

Jesse Garcia, 23, of Memphis, Texas, has been charged with trafficking cocaine. Garcia is being processed at the Robeson County Jail.

Federal drug enforcement agents are assisting with the investigation.
