Cary Woman To Serve As Temporary Police Chief

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — The Town of Cary's police department will get a new leader next month, at least temporarily.

Assistant Chief Pat Bazemore will take over as interim chief for Chief Windy Hunter, who is retiring after 29 years on the force.

Bazemore, who begins June 1 as chief, started with the Cary department in 1986 and moved up the ranks as the first woman in each position, from sergeant all the way to assistant chief.

The town is conducting a national search for the permanent position. Bazemore is applying for it.
