FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Authorities in Fayetteville have released the names of the victims in Saturday's murder-suicide.

Fayetteville police received a call from a male stating he had killed his wife and would shoot himself before police arrived. When they arrived at the Cambridge Arms Apartments off McPherson Church Road, they entered the apartment and discovered the bodies of a male and female inside the residence.

Investigators said the female victim, 29-year-old Ronna Valentine, was shot by her husband, 42-year-old James Valentine before he turned the gun on himself. Neighbors said Ronna Valentine was a soldier and had just returned home after a tour of duty.
