Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police have released surveillance video from a Tuesday night robbery that left a store clerk dead. They say they hope it will help them with their investigation. When police arrived to the Hilltop Food Mart on Hardee Street around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers found the clerk, 44-year-old Ahmed Raja, of Durham, had been shot once in the chest and died at the scene.

According to police, two masked males armed with guns entered the store as it was about to close, immediately shot Raja and then fled with the cash register.

A witness reportedly saw the crime and a surveillance camera caught it all on tape. Raja's relatives said the store has been previously targeted by thieves.

One suspect is described as a black male wearing a light-colored ski mask, a plaid long-sleeve shirt with a white T-shirt underneath and dark jeans. He was armed with a silver semi-automatic handgun. The second suspect is described as a black male wearing a black ski mask, a black shirt, black jeans and dark shoes. He was armed with a double barrel, side-by-side sawed-off shotgun.
