JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — Johnston County deputies have caught a Harnett County man they believe is behind a string of recent car thefts.
Deputies said they saw Jeffrey McLean steal a car on eastbound Interstate 40 East near Benson.
Authorities believe McLean has stolen eight vehicles from the area over the last 90 days. He has been charged with felony larceny and damage to personal property.
McLean is in the Johnston County Jail on $15,000 bond. During his first court appearance Tuesday, the judge reduced the bond from $30,000. His next court date is scheduled for May 26.
