BENSON, N.C. — A Benson man is accused of using a newspaper as a way to stalk women.

Deputies arrested James Jones, 51, on charges of repeatedly making harassing phone calls and stalking 16 different women, ranging in ages from 16 to mid-40s.

The sheriff says Jones picked out women he saw in newspaper pictures, called them, and often made sexual propositions.

Jones was released last week on $50,000 bond, but was arrested again Monday for one harassing phone call and one account of stalking. He was later released on $2,000 bond.

Some of the victims say Jones harassed them for nearly two years.
