The plant is rumored to be the future site of a Costco warehouse store, but Pepsi officials said that recent published reports were incorrect about parts of the Costco angle.
Costco has an economic development announcement scheduled for May 26. It's possible that any expansion plans could be announced then.
D.H. Griffin Wrecking is the contractor demolishing
the Pepsi plant
at a cost estimated at $368,300, according to building permits. The plant is located on the corner of Six Forks Road and Wake Forest Road.
Costco, which operates 452 warehouses, including 334 in the United States, already has a store in Durham.
