Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The NASCAR Nextel All-Star Challenge Trophy tour will stop at the Capitol on Tuesday, but will cause some nearby streets to temporarily close starting Monday night.

North Carolina State Capitol Police said Edenton Street and Jones Street -- both between Wilmington and Salisbury streets -- will close from 6 p.m. Monday, May 9 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 10.

Parking on Jones Street between Blount and Person streets also will be restricted on Tuesday.

Tuesday's stop is the first stop in a multi-city tour leading up to the 2005 NASCAR Nextel Pit Crew Challenge.

From Raleigh, the tour will travel to Camp LeJeune, Wilmington, Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Bases, Kannapolis, Greensboro, Asheville, Mooresville and Concord before arriving at the Charlotte Coliseum for the event on May 19.

The event will take place Tuesday from 10 a.m. until noon.
