CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill wants to make sure it is a good neighbor.

The university said it will split with the town of Chapel Hill the cleanup costs -- $165,000 -- resulting from the Tar Heel national championship celebration last month.

On April 4, about 45,000 fans packed Franklin Street, setting 32 bonfires in the process and leaving 10 tons of debris behind.

The university said it would use money from investments, not taxpayers, to help pay the bill.
