DURHAM, N.C. — Another prosecutor who helped put Mike Peterson behind bars is moving on.

Assistant District Attorney Freda Black resigned from the Durham district attorney's office Thursday.

The move comes just one day after former District Attorney Jim Hardin was sworn in as a superior court judge.

Black, a Campbell University graduate who is known for her fiery courtroom presence, spent 14 years in the district attorney's office.

Black is the third assistant district attorney to announce a departure in the last week.
