ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — A 2-year-old Roanoke Rapids girl is recovering from a dog attack that nearly killed her.

The victim, Skylar Finney, is listed in stable condition at UNC Hospitals.

Police charged the victim's aunt and her boyfriend for lying to investigators.

Authorities said Christine Livesay and Daniel Lewter claimed a stray dog bit the girl, but it turned out to be their pet pit bull.
