State Trooper Who Went Home Early Loses Appeal

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A state trooper suspended for going home during his shift appealed to the State Personnel Commission and lost.

While on the clock in October 2003, Trooper Richard Westmoreland went home for more than two hours and ignored several calls from the dispatcher.

Westmoreland said he was not feeling well, but he never told anyone.

The State Personnel Commission ruled the suspension is just.
