Wake Co. Deputy Assaulted During Investigation

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police and Wake County deputies searched the woods off Buck Jones Road Wednesday morning for man who allegedly assaulted a deputy.
The deputy was checking out suspicious activity at a convenience store when a group of people saw him and scattered. One man from the group got into a physical confrontation with the deputy, punched him in the nose, and ran.
Investigators are searching the woods with their K-9 units and are also looking for a woman who sped off in a car.
