GREENVILLE, N.C. — A member of the National Guard who has been called to active duty will get the chance to finish his final exams.
Jerry Neuhaus, a student at East Carolina University, had been ordered by the National Guard to report for active duty on Monday.
Neuhaus asked for a two-week delay so he could finish the semester. The National Guard initially denied his request.
But U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole's office stepped in.
And now, Neuhaus has received word that he will be able to finish the semester.
He will report to active duty on May 3rd.
